About Us
-
We believe in God the Father, who created the universe; our world; and everything good, right, and perfect in it (Gen. 1:1; Jas. 1:17).
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God; that he died on the cross for the remission of our sins; that he was buried in a tomb; and raised to life again on the third day (John 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-4).
We believe in the Holy Spirit, one of the three divine members of the Godhead, who inspired the apostles and prophets to compose the Holy Scriptures (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).
We seek to follow the Bible in all matters of faith and practice (Col. 3:17).
We seek to worship God according to the New Testament and the example of the New Testament church. We meet on the first day of every week or Sunday (1 Cor. 16:2), partake of the Lord's Supper upon the first day of every week (Acts 20:7), sing with a cappella music (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16), give of our means on the first day of every week proportionally as we prosper (1 Cor. 16:2), preach and teach the Bible as our only doctrine (2 Tim. 4:2), and close our prayers in the name of Jesus (John 14:14).
We seek to be organized as the New Testament was organized with elders and deacons (Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Tit. 1:5-9).
We seek to be called Christians and a church of Christ because of what the New Testament reveals to us (Acts 11:26; Rom. 16:16).
We seek to be saved and to teach a plan of salvation as taught and practiced in the New Testament. We believe we must hear the Word of God (Rom. 10:17), believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 16:16), repent of our sins (Acts 2:38), confess Jesus as the Son of God (Acts 8:37), be immersed in water for the remission of our sins and to be added to the church (Acts 2:38, 41, 47), and live faithfully by the teachings of the Bible (Luke 9:23). This is what we believe it means to “call upon the name of the Lord in order to be saved” (Rom. 10:13; Acts 2:21, 38; 22:16).
We seek to love one another as Jesus loved us because our Lord teaches us that by this love, all men will know that we are his disciples (John 13:34-35).

When you visit the Clarkson Church of Christ, you will be our honored guest. People will shake your hand and introduce themselves. We will help you find your Bible class. We will try to make you feel welcome. You can count on that!
Jesus said. "God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." Because of our confidence in the Bible, we model our worship after the teaching of the New Testament. We observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday like the apostles taught the early church (Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Our members give according to how they prosper every Sunday, as Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 16:1-2. We pray and study the Bible just as you would expect. Everyone joins in our enthusiastic a cappella singing, seeking to obey Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16.
Many may think that observing the Lord's Supper every Sunday and singing without a piano or band may seem unusual at first, but we think you will find our worship moving and biblical. You may even find yourself paying more attention to the messages of the songs and thinking more deeply about the cross of Christ.

1. Hear the gospel, for “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom 10:17)
2. Believe the word of God that he has heard, for “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb 11:6)
3. Repent of past sins, for God “commands all men, everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). In Acts 2:38, Peter told the Jews: “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
4. Confess Jesus as the Son of God, for He said, “He that confesses Me before men, him will I also confess before my Father in Heaven.” (Matt 10:32). And, in Romans 10:9-10, the Scripture states: “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
5. Be baptized for the remission of sins, for Peter told those who heard the gospel the day the church started, who believed what they heard to "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
